PayPal payment gateway and its uses

PayPal is a financial tool that helps to conduct money transactions online all over the world without entering any financial details into every website you deal with. You can link your credit card and bank account with your PayPal account, and then add and withdraw money, shop at retailers who accept PayPal, or send money to other users.


Make online payments:

  • You can transfer money abroad to your friends, family, online shops, and international sites using PayPal.
  • You can transfer payments using the option “Send and Request Money” after the registration of your credit card or bank account with your PayPal account. The money will be credited to the recipient's account, which they can subsequently transfer to a bank account.
  • If you see the PayPal logo on a merchant’s website while shopping online, it means you can pay using PayPal. You will need to select PayPal at the checkout, then log in to your account and confirm the payment. There are a number of ways to offer PayPal as a payment option, like Pay Now and Shopping Cart.

PayPal Fees

  • There is no opening, cancellation or maintenance fee for PayPal.
  • Fees will be charged on the basis of payments you make.
  • A per-transaction fee is charged when there are sales on your site. The fee per transaction for domestic purchases is 2.5% of the transaction and a fixed fee of ₹3.
  • Personal payments: Payments to friends and relatives are free if you send them using your PayPal balance or bank account. If you pay with a credit card, the associated fees will be charged to the recipient.
  • Business payments: If you purchase goods, the recipient will charge the associate fees. To get a list of these costs, go to Fees at the bottom of any PayPal account.

Payment options

PayPal allows PayPal wallet payments, Visa, MasterCard, and AMEX debit or credit cards. To use the PayPal checkout on your website, your consumer does not need to have a PayPal account.

To receive local and international payments, you may need to provide PayPal with the following documents.

  • PAN (Permanent Account Number) of the business owner
  • Proof of address
  • A purpose code
  • Proof of bank

PayPal International Payments

  • Accepting foreign payments is easier with PayPal. PayPal accepts payments in 26 different currencies from 200 different countries.
  • PayPal’s exchange rates are set by the company and its partners and are updated every day.
  • If you want to add multi-currency options on your site, you will need to enable the multi-currency option which can be done by contacting a developer or contacting PayPal.
