Roshan Digital Account for NRPs: A Complete Guide

Roshan Digital Account (RDA) is a special type of bank account that allows Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs) and Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders to access various banking and investment opportunities in Pakistan. RDA is an initiative of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Federal Government, in collaboration with several commercial banks in Pakistan, to facilitate and encourage NRPs to contribute to the economic development of their homeland.

Here are some of the features and benefits of RDA:

RDA can be opened online from anywhere in the world, without visiting a bank branch in Pakistan. The account opening process is simple, secure, and fully digitized, with minimal documentation and verification requirements.

RDA can be opened in multiple currencies, such as PKR, USD, GBP, EUR, AED, and SAR. The account can be funded by foreign inward remittances only, originating from the account holder himself/herself, through home remittances or SWIFT, in any currency.

RDA offers various investment opportunities for NRPs, such as Naya Pakistan Certificates (NPCs), which are high-yield government-backed debt securities, both conventional and Shariah-compliant; stock market, through the Central Depository Company (CDC); mutual funds; and real estate.

RDA allows easy repatriation of funds to the account holder's country of residence, without any approval or restriction. The account holder can also transfer funds to any other bank account in Pakistan, or withdraw cash from any branch of the partner bankh.

RDA provides various banking facilities and services to the account holder, such as debit card, cheque book, internet banking, SMS alerts, funds transfer, utility bill payment, e-statements, and more. Some of these facilities are free of cost, while others may have nominal charges.

To open an RDA, you will need the following information and documents:
